Manufacturers in attendance were encouraged to complete two Disaster surveys: Disaster Impact and Disaster Readiness. These are short, confidential surveys which help your business determine how ready you truly are for the next hurricane, flooding, etc. The survey is sponsored by FloridaMakes, and SAMA members can receive a FREE onsite evaluation.
Our guest speaker was Dr. Alina Zare from the University of Florida, discussing Artificial Intelligence and the pain-staking process of collecting data to make computers smarter over time. An interesting and important topic for the future of manufacturing!

A great time was had by all who attended our February 20, 2019 dinner meeting. Our guest speakers were Kevin Carr, CEO of FloridaMakes and Dave Ferguson, our local FloridaMakes Business Advisor. Kevin emphasized the importance of educating our legislators regarding the major impact manufacturing has on the state of Florida. Even though the unemployment rate is low, Florida is lagging behind the country in productivity per employee. Since FloridaMakes’ inception, Florida has been making up ground quickly, while the rest of the country remains flat. Learn More.
